The 7th Annual Remembrance Run was held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 (Gold Star Mother’s Weekend). The Iowa Remembrance Run honors Iowa’s fallen service members who were casualties of war from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. We also honor Iowa fallen service members who have died since 9/11 due to injuries received while serving, PTSD* or while serving on active duty.
Proceeds from the Remembrance Run fund the Annual Retreat for Iowa Families of Fallen Service Members. The retreat is a private event for family members in Iowa who have lost a service member since 9/11 and is organized and hosted by Survivor Outreach Services – Iowa. The meeting provides the families with useful resources and support, and facilitates a peer network for the participants.
*Names and documentation have been submitted to Iowa Remembers by family members or loved ones.
