The 7th Annual Iowa Remembrance Run will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 (Gold Star Mother’s Weekend).  The Iowa Remembrance Run honors Iowa’s fallen service members who were casualties of war from Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn.  We also honor Iowa service members that have died during that time while serving our country on active duty.

In the fall of 2015 we started the endeavor of documenting the stories of Iowa’s fallen service members and their families. We are thrilled to be sharing the first step of that project which is a very moving piece about the Remembrance Run. We are very proud of how it came together and are happy to share it with all of you.

Proceeds from the Iowa Remembrance Run are donated to fund the Annual Retreat for Iowa Families of Fallen Service Members. The retreat is a private event for family members in Iowa who have lost a service member since 9/11 and is organized and hosted by Survivor Outreach Services – Iowa. The meeting provides the families with useful resources and support, and facilitates a peer network for the participants.
